Rita Akter
Rita
Akter, daughter of Firoz Mia and Helena Begum, lives in the slum of Korail, Dhaka Bangladesh. She studies in class 4 in Jamai Bazar Urban Slum Anonda
School. She has total 8 siblings of 5 sisters and 3 brothers.
Her
father earns approximately 6000 BDT (per month) by selling fruits in Banani
Model Town and her mother works in a garments factory with a salary of 4500
BDT. Her brother is a daily labor with an earnings of 2000
every month. Her sister, Shilpi Akhter, also works in a garments factory with
an earning of 4000 BDT. With a family of 11 members
they somehow manage to live in a tin shed house of only one room. They use a
toilet of 10 families. She has no table to study.
Despite of everything she is very studious and sincere about her study and has a high ambition of becoming a doctor and earn for her family. For that she wants to get very good grades in board exams and get government scholarship to continue her studies. Her parents also want a bright future for her and their other children. But this isn't possible with such a small earning and living standard. Ambitious and hardworking children like Rita need quite good sponsorships or financial helps in order to achieve their goals.
